Ladies awards – Season 08/09 All Star Team

The end of the ladies first season saw the introduction of the ladies „all star team“ awards. The awards are voted for by the ladies team coaches, each voting for three players in the league to make up an all star team. The awards for the All Star Team of the season 08/09 went to Romina Micheli (Balwaerie Storm), Janni Ohrstrom (Glenrothes Grrrowl) and Lorna Teal (Aberdeen Oilers).
Ladies Play Off cup

Scotlands first ever ladies league season culminated in a fiercly competed play off cup on May 23rd. Seeded according to league standings, the semis were fought between Balwearie and Glenrothes and between Aberdeen and St Andrews. The first semi was end to end seeing Balwearie go up twice against league winners Glenrothes. However, despite bring down twice, the experience of the Glenrothes squad helped them launch into a last minute offence and win the game 5-3. The second semi was equally close with Aberdeen scoring the only goal of the match against St Andrews to put the reds into the final against Glenrothes. The 3rd place play off went to Balwearie in a 3-1 win over St Andrews. The final was another highly competive and closely fought mmatch with Aberdeen taking the lead 1-0. However, the Glenrothes attack once again upped its game in the dying inutes and the reds found themselevs trailing 4-1. Aberdeen found the net again to score 4-2, and pinged another off the post, but it was Glenrothes who went through to lift their second trophy of the season.
Play-Off Cup date announced

The ladies will play-off cup will be held on March 23rd at FIPRE, Glenrothes (10am – 1:30pm). The fixtures are as follows:
10:15 - Semi-Final 1: Glenrothes vs Balwearie
11:00 - Semi-Final 2: St Andrews vs Aberdeen
11:45 - 3rd place play-off: Runner-up SF1 vs Runner-up SF2
12:30 - Final: Winner SF1 vs Winner SF2

The action of tournament 2 was filmed and has been edited into a 20 minute promo DVD by two local professionals, providing a great snapshot of this years ladies floorball action and some really entertaining viewing.
